Pursuit of happiness

I guess happiness at Nathan's age is all about instant gratification. A few times I've seen Nathan roaming the house aimlessly, browsing the toys on the bookshelves or digging into our kitchen cabinets. I ask him what he's doing and he replied with a pensive look on his face: "I'm looking for something that makes me happy."
The first time I heard it I almost choked, definitely did not see that one coming. I briefly considered a "what is happiness" talk, but decided to save that for later (maybe when he turns 5?) Instead I just said "Let me know when you find it Nathan". A few minutes later Nathan came back with a piece of gum, looking all triumphant.
