A typical day

Nathan's 7 weeks now and we're seeing some patterns in his daily routines.
He's quite a night owl (has his parents to blame) and doesn't "go to bed" until around midnight. He usually falls asleep lying on daddy on the couch (most likely watching Jay Leno). Later in the night he gets moved to our bed to sleep next to me. He can sleep for as long as 4 hour stretches now and gives plenty of notice that he's about to wake up by making cute baby noises and moving his head left and right in his sleep (before it was mostly rubbing his face in the sheets, but now he can actually lift his head high enough to clear it). He normally gets a feeding around 2-3am, and if I'm lucky ends up falling straight back to sleep. If his eyes are still wide open and wanting to "explore" then I know I'm in trouble, could end up stomping around the house for another hour.
Once he's asleep again he can usually sleep till 6-7am, which is about the time my mom gets out of bed. So after a feeding she takes over and I get to sleep a little more, yay! My mom has a pretty good routine down for Nathan's playtime. In the morning Nathan likes to sit in the papasan and watch my mom put on a puppet show with the little stuffed kiwi and piglet. He's also enjoying his mobile a lot more now and would smile and make happy noises while looking at it. Occasionally e likes to be rolled around in the crib too and practice crawling from one end to the other (he's got a super strong kick). Nathan takes several naps in the day time. Sometimes he'll fall asleep while being burped, but most of the time it requires being held while walking the house (I guess the motion helps). We usually wait at least 10 minutes after he appears to be asleep before putting him down in his crib though to make sure he's in "deep sleep". If he wakes up then gotta start all over again.
Both me and my mom are usually pretty exhausted by the end of the day and so looking forward for James to come home from work. We have dinner around 6:30pm (used to be more like 9?) and depending on our energy level might take Nathan for a walk in the front-pack or give him a bath. James has the 9pm to midnight shift while I try to take a nap and get ready for the next day.
