Tuesday was Nathan's last day at Google Daycare and the teachers wanted to make it extra special by going out to a restaurant for lunch. They discussed with the children about what they would like that's healthy and decided on sushi, and happened to go to one of our favorite restaurants (Satsuma) which is walking distance from school. They also decided to dress "fancy" so I got Nathan a button down shirt just for the occasion, which he quite enjoyed wearing. Apparently Nathan ate "a lot"!
It's always hard to say goodbye and during pickup Nathan gave each of his teachers a homemade card, a flower and a big hug.
Shauna who's been Nathan's teacher for 2 years (in both Fig and Clementine). She taught Nathan the "flip trick" for putting on jackets.
Heidi who loves animals and has brought in several of her pets to school to share with the children, including a bunny and several baby chicks (Nathan was fascinated with the heat lamps used to provide warmth for the chicks).
Noemi which was Nathan's teacher when he first started in Nutmeg, and then again in Fig. She's worked closely 1-on-1 with Nathan and set goals for the school year. She also maintains Nathan's portfolio for the school year, including his "exit interview" which was quite hilarious. When asked what he will miss most about Google Children's Center, his answer was "lunch"!
When asked what is Nathan's favorite spot in the classroom, Noemi suggested the fig tree outside their classroom:
And of course the Figgie Cafe sign and clock that the children made themselves:
