Kindergarten

August 22, 2012 was a significant day for Nathan.  He started Kindergarten at a new school (Santa Rita Elementary).  He was quite excited that day and the whole family including Evan and Waigong Waipo dropped him off at school.  First day of school was quite chaotic and being first time parents we almost didn't make it in time.  We ended up dropping James and Nathan off while the rest of us look for a parking spot.

I was originally concerned that Nathan might have separation anxiety starting at new school without knowing anybody there, but his first day went great and he had no problem saying goodbye at all.  We had visited the school for several social events before and that definitely helped with the transition.

 

When we picked him up later that day it was a lot less chaotic.  He saw us from far away and waved.  It looked like he had a really good time.

What Nathan made on his first day of Kindergarten: a raccoon hand puppet.  He also told us that "raccoons are nocturnal" (that's a big word!)
